Tailor-made mix of challenging requirements

Developing the perfect granulate mix for your application is specialist work. Q Plastics developed a composition for a producer of disposable trays that ticks all the boxes in terms of production and the customer’s requirements.

Each product or application has its own technical requirements. As a producer, you also want to guarantee an economically interesting process at the same time. Both aspects were combined here in an extensive and complex checklist. In addition to a maximum cost price of €0.40/tray, technical requirements such as impact and E-modulus also had to be guaranteed.

The right blend with additives

The fact that the trays are black was an advantage. It made the search for a suitable blend easier. Q Plastics went through a testing process, adding additives to give the material the properties it required. The mix consists of:

• a basic mix of PP/HDPE mill material
• impact modifier
• some PP with a higher MFI

When looking for the right blend, Q Plastics can always add the necessary additives to meet all your requirements. This includes antioxidants, UV stabilisers, fillers or impact modifiers.
